Kapa Haka at Sumner School
Our Kapa Haka group meet to practice waiata and haka every Friday between 11.30-12.30pm. Children from Year 4-8 are warmly invited to join our Kapa Haka group and are encouraged to make the commitment to attend the weekly practice. In Term 3, we will be performing at the Horncastle Arena as part of the Christchurch Cultural Festival. We will also be performing at school wide events such as welcoming overseas visitors, assembly performances and the Aupaki Cultural Festival.
Our Kapa Haka tutor is Aimee Smaill, who supports our group to prepare for the various events that we perform at during the year. Mrs Neill is our school Kapa Haka coordinator. If you have any queries, you can contact her at kneill@sumner.school.nz

Cultural Festival 2019
We warmly invite our Sumner whānau to come and support Sumner School performing at the Christchurch Schools’ Cultural Festival 2020. The event will include a showcase of cultural performances, visual art exhibition and a wearable art pageant. This is a wonderful opportunity for our tamariki to experience and perform at the Horncastle Arena and we hope you can join us.
